The Spirent Abacus 50 is an Analog Subscriber Test System that effectively replicates analog telephony functionalities, encompassing call placement and termination. This system inherits the remarkable capabilities of the Abacus 5000 but is presented in a more compact form factor and supports two analog ports. The Abacus 50 has been specifically designed to cater to test environments with lower port density or to minimize the costs associated with implementing a remote testing solution. Moreover, this system empowers service providers and enterprises to expedite service deployment while ensuring adherence to the users' quality requirements.

The Abacus 50 offers analog circuits (FXO ports) that emulate the subscriber side of a two-wire analog circuit, all within a cost-efficient standalone platform suitable for both laboratory testing and distributed network deployments. By incorporating the distributed testing firmware option, multiple Abacus 50 systems can be unified into one cohesive entity, simplifying the management of numerous systems. The system adeptly executes call setup and teardown operations for each channel, granting users the flexibility to simulate an extensive array of applications associated with network and switch testing. Each channel on the system can be configured as either a terminating or originating channel, further enhancing its versatility.

The Abacus 50 can be utilized for a variety of applications, including PBXs, switches, and central office applications, where it excels in generating traffic, verifying correct routing, and faithfully modeling traffic patterns.
